Louisville tech business avoids short-sighted approach

For the past five years, Louisville’s Rocky Mountain RAM has partnered with North Central Sight Services to create jobs for the visually impaired, manufacturing a full line of computer flash drives.

Rocky Mountain RAM, at 901 Front St., in downtown Louisville, delivers the technology to NCSS and NCSS’ vision-impaired employees assemble the flash drives and distribute the product.

NCSS, based in Williamsport, Penn., is an associated agency of National Industries for the Blind and the partnership has created about 18 jobs across both companies, said NCSS president Bob Garrett.

Mary Mosquera reports "Agencies can now purchase the strongest standard encryption products and services at the best price because of the awards today of 10 blanket purchase agreements under the SmartBuy governmentwide procurement vehicle."

"The Office of Management and Budget, Defense Department and General Services Administration awarded the BPAs to protect sensitive, unclassified data on government laptop computers, other mobile computing devices and removable storage media devices."
Rocky Mountain RAM was awarded the contract to distribute Safeboot's Safeboot® Device Encryption products.
Mosquera continues "Agencies may begin to purchase encryption services for data at rest through the BPAs immediately. The agreements were selected under DOD's Enterprise Software Initiative and GSA's governmentwide SmartBuy program."

The Office of Management and Budget, U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. General Services Administration awarded Rocky Mountain RAM a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to protect sensitive, unclassified data residing on government laptops, other mobile computing devices and removable storage media devices. Approved products include Safeboot NV's “Safeboot® Device Encryption” mobile data security products which Rocky Mountain RAM distributes under its exclusive GSA distributorship.

ColoradoBiz Magazine's 2007 Top 100 Women-owned Businesses included Rocky Mountain Ram LLC at number #40. ColoradoBiz Magazine reporter Mike Taylor reports "Eighty-two of the top 100 women-owned companies ranked by ColoradoBiz increased revenues in 2005, the highest total in nine years. Seven reported no year-over-year change, leaving only 11 companies with a decline in revenues, the lowest number of decliners in this annual ranking since 1997."

Top 2006 Diversity Businesses

DiversityBusiness.com, the nation's' leading multicultural business website, today announced the Div500, the 7th annual listing of the nation's top 500 diversity-owned businesses. The companies listed on the Div500 represent the nation's top multicultural earners and challenge the long-held notion that diversity-owned businesses are small or insignificant.

ColoradoBiz Magazine's 2006 Top 250 Private Companies included Rocky Mountain Ram LLC at number #146. ColoradoBiz Magazine reporter Mike Taylor reports "While century-old companies have made their mark mostly in basic services, the top revenue gainers in the Private Top 250 reflect Colorado's high-tech presence. Of the 20 companies that enjoyed the highest year-over-year revenue increases from 2004 to 2005, seven are consulting or recruiting firms. The remaining 13 are spread among construction, IT, marketing, sales, finance, insurance, manufacturing and event planning."
